Meet Sharon - our Montessori Educator

RSS

Hello everyone,

My name is Sharon and I am very excited and privileged to work as your Montessori Educator here at I AM Montessori.  I would love to take this opportunity to tell you about myself.

I will start by saying that this type of education has lived with me for a long time as I have had four children that went to a Montessori school and I can't wait to share this way of life and learning with you. My children are now in their adult lives, have all done well in school and possess an insatiable drive to do everything to the best of their ability.

As a young adult I studied a B.A of  Graphic Art and worked in this field for a few years until I decided to teach my love of watercolour painting and drawing to adults and children.  A highlight of my career was when I had one of my paintings hung in the Queensland Art Gallery, I have also sold many of my art works to buyers around the world. As the years went on I studied pottery, acting and many other things in the the creative field. In the last 9 years I have studied childcare to a diploma level, worked in family day care  and finally studied to get my degree in Montessori education.

I have learnt so many things about the amazing founder, Maria Montessori and her drive to help children around the world to learn in a calm, quiet and beautiful environment. In the years I have been teaching (children ages 0-6)  children's potential and capabilities never cease to amaze me. Independence is the most important gift you can give your children.

Your children will thrive in a Montessori environment, the materials are beautiful and attract the child to want to learn and challenge themselves to ultimately build their sensorial, practical, mathematical and language skills. The materials not only give children  independence but helps them to understand how things work as it is right there in front of them. For example, I have seen children learn to read in the 4-6 age group and even earlier because sandpaper letters makes recognising the alphabet so much easier and enjoyable.

I so look forward to teaching your children the Montessori method, you are giving your children the best start to their learning life.

See you soon,

Sharon
