About Joanna

Family Day Care Urban Cottage

I am a mother of three children (16, 12 and 8). I bring my love of nature and animals to my childcare and believe that children gain valuable learning experiences by caring for and interacting with them. I provide a warm and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow in an unhurried and joyful space. The daily rhythm supports children to move gently and harmoniously through the day.

I believe when children’s needs are met it fosters a secure and trusting relationship with them. This also helps them develop empathy and caring for themselves and others. My hobbies and interests include riding my horse and natural horsemanship, animal therapy, nature walks with my family and reading.

My Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care – currently studying
  • Certificate III in Business
  • Level 1 Certificate - Horseboy Method: (horses helping children with Autisim)
  • Cert IV Childcare (Nanny)
  • Senior First Aid: Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
  • Blue Card

About the home

Urban Cottage Family Day Care’s environment is specifically designed to meet the needs of children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. We have a light and airy indoor space that reflects beauty and simplicity.

Our outdoor area has vegetable gardens, a mud kitchen and plenty of trees for natural shade and is an area where children can experience messy and natural play. Most of our resources are recycled or upcycled and sustainably-sourced.

Our outdoor area also is home to our beautiful bantam hens and friendly guinea pigs.

Every month we have our gorgeous Shetland ponies visit to introduce the children to horses in a fun and safe way with no pressure. Urban Cottage ponies and animals help create childhood memories that will last a lifetime.

Parent-Carer relationship

Family Day Care Oxenford

My commitment to you starts with your commitment to me. We need to have an open and honest communication. To thrive this communication, please feel free to share with me your concerns, problems and situations that may affect your child. I am providing a quality educational program inspired by Montessori method, not a babysitting. So I need parents who are willing to work with me.

Ongoing care
We can discuss anytime about my care and how the care affects to your child and your family. We can have discussion every month or every two months it depends on us. It is the most important to me that you and your family and children in my care are all happy.

Fees
Care will be a flat rate. Fees are paid to I AM Montessori. You will be eligible for childcare rebates in much the same way as you would be with a childcare centre. This is arranged through I AM Montessori. Fees are subject to increase each year.

Hours
Service will be offered from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday Tuesday and Thursday. If you require care outside of these times I am more than happy to discuss it.

Where to from here

If you are interested to enrol your child in Urban Cottage FDC, please contact me on 0407 274 244 to arrange an interview, where we further discuss the needs of your child, and how I might be able to meet them.
